The Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) held a productive consultative meeting with the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) to strengthen collaboration in promoting and protecting Liberia’s intellectual property, cultural heritage, creative industries, and tourism sector.

During the meeting, LNTA Director General Hon. Princess Eva Cooper and LIPO Director General Hon. Garmai Koboi reaffirmed their commitment to working together to create greater opportunities for creators, entrepreneurs, SMEs, and communities by leveraging Liberia’s rich cultural and creative assets.

A key focus of the discussions was the role of Geographical Indications (GIs) and Traditional Knowledge (TK) in preserving Liberia’s unique identity while enhancing cultural tourism, supporting local businesses, and driving sustainable economic development.

The two institutions agreed to pursue a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), implement joint public awareness campaigns, collaborate on international legal frameworks, and strengthen institutional coordination on issues affecting intellectual property, hospitality, the creative economy, and tourism.

The partnership underscores the Government of Liberia’s commitment to building a vibrant creative economy, safeguarding cultural heritage, and positioning Liberia as a competitive and authentic tourism destination.
