Liberia National Tourism Authority and the Liberia Intellectual Property Office Sign Agreement to Protect Cultural and Creative Assets

The Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) to strengthen cooperation in tourism, intellectual property, cultural heritage, and the creative sector.

The agreement was signed by LNTA Director General, Hon. Princess Eva Cooper, and LIPO Director General, Hon. Garmai Koboi.

The partnership will focus on public education, training, stakeholder engagement, cultural heritage and the protection of tourism-related intellectual property, including geographical indications, traditional knowledge, trademarks and copyrights.

The two institutions will also explore indigenous products that could qualify for geographical indication protection and promote them as tourism and export assets.

A Joint Technical Working Committee will coordinate activities, develop annual work plans and monitor implementation.
