Cruise Tourism Returns to Monrovia as Liberia Hosts International Visitors Aboard SH Diana
On April 23, 2026, Liberia welcomed approximately 90 international visitors aboard the SH Diana, operated by Swan Hellenic, as the vessel docked at the Freeport of Monrovia. The arrival marked another significant moment in the country’s growing cruise tourism sector, further positioning Liberia as an emerging destination for culturally immersive travel experiences.
Following their arrival, the visitors embarked on a curated historical tour of key heritage sites across the capital, organized by the Liberia National Tourism Association (LINTA). The itinerary included Ducor Hill, Providence Island, the National Museum of Liberia, Providence Baptist Church—where the Declaration of Independence was signed—and the Centennial Pavilion.
The experience also extended into surrounding communities, where visitors engaged with residents and supported local businesses through direct purchases, reinforcing the value of community-based tourism and its role in local economic growth.
Special thanks to the Liberia National Tourism Association (LINTA) for organizing and coordinating the trip, ensuring visitors experienced Liberia’s rich history, culture, and warm hospitality firsthand.
