Malta Tourism Commits to Strengthening Liberia’s Global Tourism Push

The Director General of the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), Princess Eva Cooper, has taken another major step toward advancing Liberia’s tourism industry through a high-level meeting with the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Carlo Micallef, of the Malta Tourism Authority. The engagement focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Liberia National Tourism Authority and the Malta Tourism Authority have agreed to pursue a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the growth of Liberia’s tourism sector by leveraging Malta’s expertise, lessons learned, and proven success models, while simultaneously positioning Liberia as an emerging tourism destination within the Maltese market.

Malta stands as one of Europe’s leading tourism destinations, welcoming over 4.5 million visitors annually. Its success is underpinned by strong institutional systems, clear policy frameworks, and effective global marketing strategies. Through this engagement, Liberia is poised to benefit from knowledge exchange in tourism policy development, regulatory frameworks, sector planning, and destination management.

The partnership is also expected to facilitate joint international marketing initiatives, enhancing Liberia’s visibility on the global stage while promoting the country to Malta as a destination for tourism and investment. The overarching objective is to position Liberia as a competitive tourism hub in West Africa.

From Monrovia to Malta, a new pathway is emerging—one that creates tangible opportunities for Liberians and advances the country’s tourism ambitions step by step.

The Liberian delegation, led by DG Princess Eva Cooper, participates in a high-level meeting with officials of the Malta Tourism Authority. The purpose of the meeting was to explore opportunities for collaboration in tourism policy, innovation, and the sustainable growth of the sector.
