LNTA has a central role in positioning tourism as a key pillar of Liberia’s economic diversification agenda. The Authority works to ensure that tourism generates sustainable jobs, supports local enterprises, and showcases Liberia’s image regionally and globally.
Beyond promotion, LNTA exercises regulatory responsibilities to maintain quality standards and protect visitors, enterprises and communities. The Authority also coordinates with ministries, agencies and counties to avoid duplication and strengthen sector-wide impact.
Core areas where LNTA carries responsibility on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia.
Provide technical guidance on tourism-related legislation, regulations and policy reforms, ensuring coherence with broader economic and cultural policies.
Identify priority tourism corridors, sites and circuits, and work with counties and ministries on land use, zoning and infrastructure for tourism growth.
Design and implement national standards, classification systems and licensing processes that build visitor confidence and protect consumers.
Lead the promotion of Liberia as a destination, develop national tourism branding, and coordinate participation at trade fairs and regional platforms.
Collect, analyse and disseminate tourism statistics and market intelligence to inform investors, policymakers and development partners.
Facilitate dialogue with private sector, communities and civil society to ensure tourism benefits are shared and local voices inform decision-making.
