Standards, Classification & Certification
LNTA sets and oversees national standards that ensure tourism and hospitality enterprises across Liberia offer safe, reliable and competitive services – from beach resorts and eco-lodges to restaurants, car rentals and tour operators.

Explore our Standards & Quality Control Process
Our multidisciplinary team includes professionals in hospitality, architecture, quality control, marketing and tourism planning. Together, they support enterprises – large and small – to meet national standards while showcasing Liberia’s culture, heritage, beaches and nature in a responsible way. Whether you operate a guesthouse in Buchanan, a lodge in Sapo corridor, a restaurant in Monrovia or a tour company serving visitors from ECOWAS and beyond, LNTA’s standards framework is designed to help bring your project to life.

How the Process Works

A clear three-phase pathway from registration to licensing and classification.

Phase 1

Register Your Enterprise

Register your business and key contact persons online through the LNTA registration portal. This helps us understand your location, services, ownership and plans for growth.

Phase 2

Inspection & Assessment

LNTA’s inspection team – including hospitality, quality control and safety experts – conducts site visits. We review your facilities, services and documentation, and provide guidance on permits, improvements and compliance needs.

Phase 3

Licensing & Classification

Once requirements are met, your enterprise is issued an operational licence and classification (where applicable). You are then listed in the LNTA directory of licensed enterprises to give visitors and partners confidence in your services.

Interactive, Supportive Quality Control

LNTA’s approach to standards is not only regulatory – it is also supportive. We work with operators to improve standards over time through inspections, coaching, and clear guidance tailored to the Liberian context.

Interactive Experiences & Visitor Confidence

From heritage sites and museums to coastal attractions and community-based tourism, LNTA’s quality framework supports enterprises to create memorable, safe and engaging visitor experiences.

  • Clear minimum standards for accommodation, food & beverage, travel trade and tourist sites.
  • Classification and grading systems (e.g. star-rating, category labels) to signal quality to visitors.
  • Clear minimum standards for accommodation, food & beverage, travel trade and tourist sites.
  • Periodic inspections with practical feedback and time-bound corrective actions where needed.
  • Support for inclusive and accessible tourism, including youth and women-owned enterprises across all 15 counties.
